Freedom & Diversity as Dutch as dikes, wooden shoes, 'drop' and raw herrings

What is worse than politicians who split a population in two by spreading hatred and prejudice? What is worse than politicians who, in their hearts, do not believe in democracy?

Two things are worse:
1. Ignorant voters and stupid followers who believe the populist’ rhetoric
2. Colleague politicians who’s mouths stay shut in polite smiles and handshakes

We, in the Netherlands, have both.

The majority of our country will now have to stand up and speak out loud. We cannot sit still and watch how some off us garbage one of our most priceless cultural values: that of freedom of speech / religion / expression (& yes, expression is in dress as well).

The cultural heritage my father left me is: freedom for everybody, not just for some.
Freedom and diversity are as Dutch as dikes, wooden shoes, 'drop' and raw herrings are.
